I heard recently that the only difference between a poor man and a rich one is his level of contentment. According to my bank account I have every reason to describe myself as poor. However, I am choosing today to be content and here is why-
*house with a/c
*2 cars{even though the gas is eating away our savings}
*ability to stay with my kiddos over the summer
*enough, just enough, food
*money to pay our debts, even if it is only the minimum payments this summer
*hand me down clothes
*gifts of fresh fruit
*a Nonnie that buys juice
*a husband that works hard to provide while also working hard to love on his kids for hours every day
Yes, I am rich.

I agree! Times are hard right now for many of us.......but, we are rich over here too, for many reasons! Contentment has always been an ongoing struggle for me but, the Lord has been faithful to help me in this area. It is a choice to daily focus on your own blessings, the good things, and the important eternal things!
No one else would think it either by our bank accounts, bills, home, vehicles, etc. but, we are rich and very blessed!

Good reminder, Jamee. I must say today I feel rich, because Kanton has strep and I was able to take him to the doctor and get medicine for him. I know some peope aren't able to take care of their kids when they're sick.

I am feeling rich because I have parents driving 5 hours to get me, I get to spend a month on vacation (paid!), I just bought myself a book I've been waiting for and it was half-off, I have food in my tummy, AND I have awesome friends and family who make sure I know I am loved. I am very rich (even if I can't debit ANYTHING until Friday!!!).

I am also rich! As I sit here reading you blog I can't help but to think of my many blessings, healthy children, a husband who adores me and a job that I can take my children to work with me. I could go on and on. God has been good to me.
Rich with wonderful medical care, family to take care of me, and friends checking in on me. I am ever so thankful.
This came across my email today. Thought it was fitting!
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the
country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.
They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be
considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
"Oh yeah," said the son.
"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have
a pool and they have a creek that has no end. We have lanterns in our
garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard
and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on
and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve
us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have
walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."
Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we
all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't
have.
