We believe

in Jesus. Today we had the splendid opportunity to profess our belief in front of friends, family and our entire church family. We professed our desire to raise our children in a Christian home. We professed our faith in what is to come. We dedicated #2 and #3 during the worship service, along with 24 other babies and children.

When #1 was a baby we attended a church that did infant baptism. In my heart I understood that what I was doing was telling all that were present that I wanted their help in raising this little blessing into the woman God had planned for her. We had a nice lunch at the house afterwards and many of our friends and family joined us that day. I will tell her as she grows that on that day her father and I made a public decision to raise her in a Christian home. Some day it will become her responsibility to make that decision and at that time she will be able to have a believer's baptism.

Both Mr. Brick and I were baptized as infants and then were baptized again when we joined our current church. We understand baptism to be a public event occurring after a private decision to follow Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in your heart. We had both made that decision years before joining this church, yet we had never made a public pronouncement of that choice.

Anyway, back to today. We dedicated #2 and #3 and we will also teach them about our choice as parents and the choices they will have to make for themselves. Please join us as we pray for all the Brick babes and for their future relationship with Jesus Christ.
