Forever-

Seven years ago last month I had a miscarriage. I wasn't very far along yet I was still devastated. We had been through some medical 'stuff' and weren't exactly certain how easy it would be for me to become a momma. We were surprised and beyond excited when we found out I was to have a baby in March of 2003.

That excitement was short lived. Just 5 days after I found out I was carrying a new life, the ultrasound showed in fact, that I was not.

I can still remember the doctor telling me there was no heartbeat. I drove to work and sat in a chair at the front desk. I said "I'm here. All alone." It was incredibly sad. In those five days I thought and dreamed about this baby and seen our future together as a family.

Then the dream was over.

At that point Mr. Brick and I were active volunteers in our church's high school ministry. It was summer time and there was a late night worship activity each Wednesday. About two weeks after the miscarriage I ventured back out into public and attended that service.

I figured it was late and dark and the high school kids wouldn't know much about what was going on. I am a complete extrovert and being away from people is much more painful for me in most circumstances than being around people.

As MD started singing Forever I felt a great peace come over me. I sang along and meant the words. To this day, whenever I hear the song I am taken back to that night in the Outlet Cafe when the Lord reminded me of His abundant love and faithfulness.

Give thanks to the Lord
Our God and King
His love endures forever
For He is good,
He is above all things
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise

With a mighty hand and outstretched arm
His love endures forever
For the life that's been reborn
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise Sing praise, sing praise

Forever God is faithful
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever Forever

From the rising to the setting sun
His love endures forever
By the grace of God
We will carry on
His love endures forever

There is a verse in 2 Corinthians that took on special meaning during this time of my life. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 says
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
I understand it to mean that when we go through certain trials there will be others in our life who have experienced similar situations. They are able to give us strength and grace and comfort, much like others gave to them. The Lord provides these people to show that we aren't alone and we will carry on. A woman from my church called me and shared her story of loss. My mom told me more about her own miscarriage. These were painful stories, yet these women helped me to know I was not suffering a pain that no else had suffered. They knew how I was feeling.

It is up to us to help those in our path that are hurting. To show them comfort and love and a safe place to rest. Especially when we know intimately the kind of pain they are feeling.

Who can you give comfort to today?

More Lyrics-

I wrote in a previous post about our desire to move and that we are in the process of selling our current house. This is our first house, the first one we bought and now the first we are trying to sell.

It is a tedious process. I love getting the phone call that a Realtor wants to come show our house. I hate the stress of getting three babes out of the door with everything looking swell. When I get home and see names on the list I get excited. When I hear that our house just wasn't right for the potential buyer I get frustrated.

I know that this is a process. I feel confident we are in God's will. His timing is not my timing and His ways are not my ways. I have heard this song "While I'm Waiting" on the radio many times. When I began applying the lyrics to my current situation I gained new perspective. I will worship while I wait. I will serve while I wait.

And above all, I will wait. Take a moment to read these words. Surely there is a circumstance you are in that the Lord is requiring you to wait. Isn't it reassuring to know that He knows how the story ends?

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait

I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord

What are you waiting for?

Happy Friday~

Lasting Lyrics

Music has always been about words to me. I do not appreciate the symphony. Instrumentals tend to bore me. After a song or two, all bluegrass sounds the same. Heavy metal holds no interest.

It is the lyrics that get to me. Words that touch me or make me feel something. I love to sing along to songs I sang along to when I was 10. Anybody remember Sylvia? As I listen to particular songs on the radio I automatically want to hear the next song on that cd.

Unfortunately I don't have a pretty voice. Once I was told I needed to sing on key. I don't even know what that means, let alone how to get there.

But I do have a good memory and a place in my brain for lyrics that mean something to me. The following lyrics by Ginny Owens have come to mind at certain points in my life for the past 8 years or so. I like to especially belt out the chorus when I am alone in my car. It is a beautiful song and I hope you enjoy the message.

The pathway is broken
And the signs are unclear
And I don't know the reason why You brought me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I'm gonna walk through the valley If You want me to

Chorus: Cause I'm not who I was
When I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise
You're not through with me yet
so if all of these trials bring me closer to you
Then I will walk through the fire
If You want me to

It may not be the way I would have chosen
When you lead me through a world that's not my home
But You never said it would be easy
You only said I'd never go alone

So when the whole world turns against me
And I'm all by myself
And I can't hear You answer my cries for help
I'll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I go through the valley If You want me to

What song means something to you?
Happy Wednesday~
