New year, New me?

I certainly hope not. However, I do hope to improve in several areas as I strive to live each day intentionally. When I set my life to default I do just enough to get by. I am not completely internally motivated. If there is not something hanging over my head I let some things slide. I have been known to let my inspection sticker go for many months past its expiration date. I often write my lesson plans on Sunday night. I wash a load of whites when only one undershirt remains in the drawer.

This is what comes easy for me and it is what drives me insane about myself. I long to be a busy bee. I would like to not wait til the last minute to buy and wrap birthday gifts. However, to make those changes requires constant, conscious effort on my part and I am also lazy.

I am old enough to know that things won't just miraculously change in my life because the calendar flipped. However a new year is a good time to take stock and really clarify areas I think deserve special attention.

I have been exercising for awhile now and still have at least 20 lbs of baby weight to lose and probably 20 more after that. So I need to now focus on what I am eating. I didn't plan on losing any over the holidays, I just didn't want to gain. I did gain, but only .4 lbs, so I start a tougher cardio program in the morning.

I love to be in the Word daily. I want my children to see me reading the Bible. I have joined a program with some other members of my family in hopes I can read through the Bible in one year. It is a lofty goal, however, I know people who have done it. And I value its importance in my life. I am going to plan on keeping up, rather than hope I do it. Does that difference make sense?

Ok, enough about me. What are you resolving in 2008?
Happy Wednesday~

two things:

1. I read somewhere recently that when we write something down, we are 90% (!!!!) more likely to do it. Last year I was abundantly lazy in writing much of anything. I spent 2007 pretty much steeped in self doubt (among other things).

2. For me, reading the bible in a year was frustrating and not as fruitful as I'd hoped. I just got focused on checking off the day's reading rather than really absorbing it. So about 4 years ago this January I began reading a chapter of the bible a day. Granted, I'm only now in Hebrews but it's been a FABULOUS experience and I've retained so much more. Also got a good commentary to help out. There's a great one free online - go to soniclight.com and look for Dr. Constable's commentaries. You can either read them on the computer or print them out book by book. Love you!!!

I love how honest you are! You're not alone with all of these things. My car registraton expired in October...I just noticed it a few days ago! I always did lesson plans late. Don't you remember that? Wasn't my favorite thing to do...

My brother just sent me a box of cookies from NY that I can't get here. There goes my diet! I'm going to hide them in the outside freezer so that I won't be tempted to eat them. Wish me luck!

Mike and I are going to Florida next month. My goal is to lose the weight I have gained in the last new months and get into a bathing suit!

You have "3 little excuses"...I don't have any...just laziness. Anyway, good luck to both of us in the New Year!

Ahhhhh, more things we have in common. I do some of the very same things. Over the holidays though, I have gotten alot done in the way of organizing so that the everyday stuff is easier to keep up with. Oh and I am due to visit the Gold's membership office very soon. See you next week when we get back into the swing of things.

Hey, look at it this way...

At least you don't obsess about doing EVERYTHING to the point that you get too exhasted to do most of it! (and then mentally kick thyself for it repeatedly)

I think there's a diagnosis for that...LOL!

Hmmm...I think I need a few trial weeks to see if I'm up to a true resolution...If I'm not, maybe next year, huh?!

Love Ya!!!

We are kindred spirits, brickmomma! I will go WEEKS at a time having everything in order and caught up and then I get sick or life in general happens and I somehow get SO far behind! I remind myself that this is a season ... there will be a time when I can fold clothes right out of the dryer so they don't get wrinkled and won't have to hear, MOOOOOOM, #3 has a knife!!!! He's recently learned to push the chairs up to the kitchen counter! I try to remind myself in those instances to be thankful he is smart. Anyway, best wishes for 2008! :o)

We joined Aerofit! Your sister is awesome. Bootcamp is too early and too much $$ for me. 20 lbs. It's true. I'd be happy, ecstatic to lose 10! We shall see. Where are you members at? Golds?

I had to remind myself that this wasn't my post; it sounded just like something I would write!

It seems like your top two are my top two - get healthy & read the bible this year. I'm doing a chronological plan instead of a book-by-book plan, though.
