Nothing to do but laugh......

Today was supposed to be #3's 6 month check up. Yes, she is six months already. I cannot believe it either. After her late afternoon nap yesterday she felt a bit warm. At 7 I took her temp and it was 102.6.....oh my! She was acting fine, not fussy at all, so after a bit of cereal I put her down for the night. I was glad we already had an appt this morning to see the good doctor. She woke up at 5 am, felt warmish and was hungry, as her last bottle had been 12 hours previous. She ate and went back down.

At 9 we arrived at UPA and the doc checked her out. You can guess this part: Virus. Nothing to do about it. Let it run its course, yada yada.

Then it was time for #1 and #2 to get their flu shots. #2 was a champ. #1 threw a fit worthy of an academy award. I have never seen her so hysterical. I was completely embarrassed as she kicked and thrashed, having to be pinned down by the nurse and mr. brick for the tiny poke. She actually didn't even notice the shot itself. Go figure.

Here is where it really gets good......while #1 is gnashing her teeth and screeching like a mad person #3 throws up. She doesn't spit up the few ounces she has had of her bottle. She throws up the entire contents of her 5 am bottle all over me. Eeeew! Thankfully I had an extra change of clothes for HER and our nurse was extremely helpful in taking care of the mess.

After a quick stop for pedialyte and a new sippy cup we are home. #3 is in bed and I am showered and in my sick day jammies. I am actually looking forward to staying at home with her in the morning while #1 and #2 got to school.

And big props to Mr. Brick who stayed home from work this morning to help corral the herd. I certainly could not have done it alone!

Oh, and we get to reschedule for the six month check up!

Poor #3 and poor friend!! Cass, the champion of all shots, who has NEVER even uttered a whimper, pitched a wall-eyed FIT and totally embarrassed her momma over the flu shot!!

I, too, endured the hysterics associated with the flu vaccine today. J, G, and I went to the dr. for ours. The kids were horrified when the requested FluMist was not available. The hysterics, screaming, tears, thrashing about, holding down arms, legs, etc. was all part of the fun. Talk about drama - J has claimed dizziness, wooziness, pain in his leg periodically thru out the evening. He wasn't even swayed by my reminder of his previous hospitalizations from flu complications (age 2 & 3). I'm just glad it's over for at least another year!

Aren't dads great? I'm so glad you are blogging the early days for your kids - they'll love you for it! I wish I had started sooner :) Saw you tonight at fall fest - were you a black-eyed-pea? I only saw from a distance...

My grandson, Alex, hates going to the doctor. It took 4 people to hold him down when he had an ear infection a few weeks ago. Yikes! I can't imagine what you went through with 3 kids! You and John are the best! Hope Olivia is better now...

My 3 year old who has NEVER cried when he got a shot EVEN as a baby threw a HUGE fit when he got his flu shot the other day. My 5 year old who is the King of Drama (he and your #1 would make a cute pair ... although that may be too much drama in one relationship ... but I think they are cute together) took the shot like a champ and wanted to "be a good example to his baby brother" so he went first ... and barely flinched! You never know what to expect. At least life with little ones isn't boring! :o) Speaking of hubbies, I love great ones like we have ... mine is in there doing the dinner dishes (a rarity, but I feel guilty blogging so I'm off to help!) Hope #3 is doing better.
