I am hungry!

"Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all of Judah. The people of Judah came together to seek help from the Lord,..." 2 Chronicles 20:3-4

We are at a point in our church that hasn't happened in at least the last 21 years. We are searching for 3 staff members. Minister of Worship, Children's Minister and Singles/Missions Minister.

During the worship service yesterday our senior pastor declared a fast for all those members who could to pray and seek wisdom from God regarding these leadership positions. Immediately I knew I would take part.

I only have one other experience with fasting. It was in college and I failed early on in the day. I am praying this time will be different. We are only being asked to fast for 24 hrs once a week until the positions are filled. We can drink whatever we want. At this point in my life I am more mature in my walk with Christ, more aware of the purpose of the fast.

With each hunger pang I have felt so far today I have prayed for the people the Lord is preparing for these staff positions. I am praying that there will be a committed Children's minister that will continue on at my church while my children are in that ministry area. It will be another year before #1 moves from the preschool wing, but I would love for the next person to fill that spot to stay for years and years and years and help mold my children. I am praying specifically for that.

I am praying for a music minister that can sing like nothing else. I am praying for talent that will lead us, move us and praise our God.

As for missions and singles, I am praying for much more wisdom in those areas. During this season in my life I am neither single nor active in missions outside the brickhaus. However, I know that this job is sincerely important and I am praying for the exact right person to fill the spot.

Mr. Brick is joining me in this fast and we are already learning more about the Word of God and what He has to say about fasting. I believe what we are being asked to do is biblical and I am excited about what the Lord will bless us with. Regardless of the outcome, anything that brings me closer to Christ, that creates a hunger in me for Jesus, that puts me more in His word is something I am pleased to do.

Have you ever fasted?

Happy Labor Day~

How'd it go? We did the 30hour famine a few years ago and it was tough but awesome too. I am just so not good with hunger but I know God works in awesome ways! Love you ROCKSTAR!

Yes, I try to fast every year on Yom Kippur, but I have a hard time getting through the whole day. I get weak and usually get a headache. Therefore, I end up eating before the day is over. Yom Kippur is coming up in a few weeks...maybe I should try thinking of what you're going through when I feel hungry. You could be my inspiration! Good luck to you and John...wish me luck, too.
