Legacy

We were part of a legacy this weekend. My husband attended a private Baptist University that his mother also attended. All 4 years he was there he had one or more cousins also attending. Previous to his tenure 2 other generations of his family attended this prestigious school. This weekend we met 50+ members(many couldn't make it) of his fully extended family to help recieve the First Family Award. We got to walk across the stage during a student performance on Friday night. There was a nice luncheon at a fancy country club on Saturday. And Saturday night we walked onto the football field during half time of the game. #1 loved running on the grass and #2 kept a close lookout for bears.

I had never thought much about the fact that Mr. Brick had lots of family that went to the same school he did. I was the first in my family to attend a 4 yr university so there wasn't much history for me to consider on my side, either. However, this weekend I was extremely proud to be part of this family. It meant a lot to the older generation to have their children and grandchildren to show off to each other. It was pretty cool walking down through the stands and out onto the field during the game.

I must say, this University came to mean more to me this weekend. I have long said my children must attend a public school unless they get a scholarship. And while I think that will still be the case, I will be hoping even harder for a scholarship. I would love to continue the legacy.......to send in the 4th generation..........
