This post was supposed to contain a link to my personal wish list from pampered chef. I was planning on helping all of you giving souls searching for just the right gift to bestow upon me. I created an account with pamperedchef.com and I filled out lots of little fields with my personal information. But at the last minute I realized I could not continue such deception, as the only registry they had was for weddings and I had my last bridal shower EIGHT years ago this month. So......just ask and I will let you know what catches me eye ;)

So all of the above was meant to be a joke. I attended a shower for a dear friend this weekend and some of us were lamenting the fact that we had nothing new for our kitchens. Various theories were bounced around and the general consensus was you get to get new stuff when you have been married 25 years. Towels, sheets, measuring spoons. Wouldn't it be fun to re-register and have a shower and open fun new gadgets and stoneware? Let's start the trend...

On another note, Christmas is coming! One month away. I was always very eager for Christmas morning to arrive as I am sure most children are. As I have gotten older I want to stretch this season out as long as possible. Now Christmas Eve is a little sad for me as the holiday season is drawing to a close. We again have very little {read: none} money for gifts but that doesn't bother me. I am aware of how blessed we are, we have a roof above our heads, plenty of warm clothes and enough toys to last. In fact I wouldn't care if I received no gifts this year.[except for that new camera, mom :)]

We are planning on pulling down the decorations this afternoon and drinking hot cocoa and playing Christmas music. #1 and #2 are really pumped about decorating and that makes me even more excited. Mr. Brick and I do not share many of the same opinions about decorating, but there have been no major fights yet. We were trying to decide whether or not to get a real tree this year but I think we will stick with our hand-me-down one more year. Maybe we'll catch a sale after Christmas.

Now.........do I decorate my tree with a theme? Do you?

Happy Sunday~

Our Christmas tree theme is very simple---the kids did it! Every little thing that the kids have made over the past several years is hung on there at their level since they hang them themselves. My gorgeous red, green, and gold ornaments are at the top, but not near as pretty as my other ornaments. I will have my dream tree one year in the way future when the kids have trees of their own.

At my parents' (no tree here, boo hiss) we have a big tree with all of our ornaments - no theme, just Christmas. But then there's a tree on the backporch with old-fashioned ornaments, and one in the bathroom that is golf-themed. Yes, it's a lot of trees:-)
I hope today was great! Love you so.

I have two trees; the big one (the main tree) in the living room and the other one in the computer room so we would have a tree showing through the front window. Cant have people thinking I dont put up a tree. Ha. I have every type of ornament there is on the 'big' tree. Although I have to say, those handmade ornaments from my childrens' day-care/school days are my favorites! Each ornament has a story and brings back a memory. I have thought about having a theme for my other tree, but havent found a theme yet. So for now, store bought ornaments and balls will have to do on that tree.
Love,
aunt lisa

I would love to have 2 trees one day: a family tree with kids' decorations on it and a snobby tree that's just too pretty for words.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Much to the dismay of my children, I have a theme. Names/words of Jesus and lots of maroon and gold balls. I even have a few rustic stars with pics of the kids. I need to put some pics in the empty ones this year! :) We got our artificial tree at Lowes the day after Christmas. 75% off, and pre-lit. It must have been a great deal. I sent Hubby out for it and he actually bought it! (Read, "he is cheap.") This puppy puts off so much heat, we don't need a fire in the fireplace.

I want two trees one day, too. Right now, I *DO* have a theme for my Christmas tree ... you notice I used "my." I had my theme and ornaments long before I was married and had kids. It is a green tree (although we did buy a taller tree after we were married) and it has all white decorations on it. I have some beautiful white crosses with iridescent glitter. All different kinds of white and clear snowflakes, garland that looks like ice handing from the tree, white lights of course, balls that are basically Styrofoam with iridescent glitter on them ... I got those long before I thought about kids, but it is great they aren't breakable. I have white/iridescent beads strung all around it and then my favorite part ... beautiful wired ribbon wrapped around the tree that is kind of white mesh (you can see through it) and it has "Silent Night" and "Holy Night" written in a beautiful script font in white. I know it is selfish and doesn't earn me any "mom of the year" awards, but it is beautiful and the second tree I'm going to have one day (hopefully soon) will be the kid tree ... they can help me make decorations. I've actually made some BEAUTIFUL salt dough ornaments in a western theme for a couple of relatives (painted, varnished, etc.). Anyway, yes, I have a themed tree. :o)
